Company

We design innovative ventilation, HVAC, and building systems. As a systems partner, we combine tradition with technology to create efficient solutions for buildings, industry, and mobility.

At our international sites, we work with our employees to develop and manufacture high-quality systems for efficient, comfortable, and sustainable building technology. Flat hierarchies, a long-term mentality, and a corporate culture based on partnership characterize our collaboration with customers, employees, and partners. Our focus lies on ventilation, air conditioning, and exhaust systems, as well as on modern systems for home and building services. Our portfolio includes, among other things, flexible and rigid duct systems, ventilation ducts, soundproofing and chimney systems, and smart-home-compatible ventilation solutions for residential and commercial buildings.

We are part of the Westa Group – an international holding company with independent subsidiaries and licensing partners worldwide.

The Group covers a broad spectrum of ventilation, air conditioning, chimney, exhaust, and filtration technology, as well as home and building services, complemented by solutions for automotive, rail, and industrial applications. This structure enables us to serve global markets with a local presence while expanding our core competencies and creating synergies in innovation, production, and sales for sustainable engineering solutions.

From Steak to Steel

Our family-owned business is characterized by constant change. Originally founded in 1933 as part of the Atlas Group, Westaflexwerk L. & F. Westerbarkey was based on a patent for flexible tubes held by brothers Leonhard and Ferdinand Westerbarkey. The initial production of steel furniture under the name “Westamöbel” was gradually replaced by the manufacture of flex tubes and eventually discontinued entirely. Exhaust pipes for industrial plants, specialty tubes for organ building, and above all, flex tubes for the fields of ventilation, heating, air conditioning, and automotive engineering laid the foundation for further development.

In particular, Leonhard and his brother Lorenz Westerbarkey drove forward the design and construction of our own machines for manufacturing special tube cross-sections. From an early stage, our innovations shaped the automotive industry – with ventilation hoses for the VW Beetle and mufflers for the Porsche 911 – and laid the foundation for our expertise in ventilation, air conditioning, and building services engineering. Our history is marked by continuous product innovation and constant adaptation to global customer needs. Following the sale of Atlas Handelsgesellschaft, a group of companies in the meat processing and marketing sector, and our withdrawal from the manufacture of chimney pipes, our focus today is on ventilation components with acoustic properties. Over time, we have established new companies – ERO Stainless Steel Pipe Technology and Carbonit Filter Technology – with their own production facilities, which have expanded our corporate group.

We are an owner-managed family business and are now in our fourth generation of leadership.

Our history is marked by continuous product innovation and technological excellence. With numerous patents and groundbreaking systems – such as the Westa Air Control (WAC) ventilation system for controlled residential ventilation with heat recovery, as well as solutions for charging stations and e-mobility under the Ladefoxx brand – we demonstrate how innovation, precision, and operational reliability go hand in hand. Our focus is always on our customers, our engineering partnerships, and “Made in Germany” quality.
In 2001, we, Dr. Peter and Jan Westerbarkey, brothers and the fourth generation of the family, took over the management of the company. Despite the company’s international presence in Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Australia, we remain firmly committed to Germany as our headquarter location and are thus consistently continuing the “Made in Germany” success story. As a family-owned business, we take a long-term, values-driven approach. We combine technological expertise with a sense of responsibility – for sustainable innovation, flat hierarchies, strong employee development, and collaborative relationships. Under this leadership, Westaflex is now a globally active partner for high-quality solutions in ventilation, air conditioning, and building services engineering – with clear roots in Germany and a commitment to delivering quality and reliability on an international scale.
